On December 18, the 2019 APEC SME Business Forum was held in Shenzhen. This forum is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, co-sponsored by the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China International Cooperation Association for Small and Medium Enterprises, and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government. The theme of the forum was “Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creative Development, Cooperation and Win-win Sharing, Sharing the Future”. NG Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Canaan, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech “Connecting Everything with Computing and Integrating the World with Intelligence”.
NG Zhang said that the 2020 generation will be the 10 years of intelligent upgrading of the entire industrial economy, and the key to intelligent upgrading is whether it can improve the efficiency of social operation and improve people’s lifestyle. And 5G, AIoT and blockchain will become the new infrastructure. As computing power and algorithms sink to the edge and end, enterprises will realize the transition from digitalization of business processes to intelligent production and service capabilities. Digital means is only an auxiliary for enterprises, and smart devices and smart services are new productivity. At the same time, the intelligentization of terminal equipment will bring smoother human-machine interaction and become a new user contact and value window.
Regarding the next development trend, NG Zhang said that the challenge facing the current computing architecture is that it cannot fully meet the massive throughput required for machine learning. As algorithms and scenarios become fixed, dedicated computing that meets specific computing power and power requirements will become the mainstream framework.
In addition, NG Zhang also announced the design architecture of the second generation of Kendryte AI chips for the first time. NG Zhang said that the new generation of K510 chip has been greatly optimized in algorithm and architecture. Compared with the first-generation chip, the K510’s computing power will increase by 5-10 times, and it will be developed for 5G scenarios. It will be used for landing applications in intelligent driving, smart retail and other fields.
